How you Select College Choices on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid May Affect Your Aid and Admissions Opportunities

“Some colleges are denying admission and perhaps reducing financial aid to students based on a single, non-financial, non-academic question that students submit to the federal government on their applications for student aid.”

It turns out that many high school students and their parents are missing out on opportunities by the way they  provide answers on the FAFSA. It turns out students’ following the process to apply for Title IV aid is potentially now being used against them by some colleges.

As you prepare to complete the FAFSA in January 2014 for the upcoming school year, list your college choices in alphabetical order to keep from having prospective institutions from using this process against you.
